Boyd C. Ballard, 60, of Encampment died Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Laramie Care Center surrounded by his family.
He was born July 10, 1956 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Ed “Shorty” and Hazel (nee. McCart) Ballard. He graduated from Laramie High School in 1977.
Boyd enjoyed helping others. He helped the Lion’s Club serve pancakes at Jubilee Day’s, he helped shovel sidewalks and he helped at the horse arena. He also liked to ride bikes and snowmobiles. Boyd became an Honorary Lion at the Woodchoppers Jamboree in Encampment.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents.
Boyd is survived by his parents and sister, Cindy Ballard, all of Encampment.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date.

My prayers and condolences to you. I always remember the help and kindness that Boyd showed to others, especially Tommy, when both were boys and shared the school year with Walter and me. Whenever I saw Boyd as the man he became, he always shared news about you. I was very fortunate to have had Boyd in my life. I will always remember his smile and cowboy hat. Boyd, say hi to Walt when you meet him in heaven. Love always!

I AM SO SORRY TO LEARN OF BOYD’S PASSING. WE’VE KNOWN EACH OTHER SINCE THE 1970’S AND I ALWAYS ENJOYED HIS FRIENDLY MANNER. HE WOULD ALWAYS ASK “HOW’S YOUR WIFE” WHEN WE RAN INTO EACH OTHER, AND IT ALWAYS GAVE ME A SMILE. I WILL MISS HIM VERY MUCH!

Boyd was always so very kind with a beautiful spirit. I loved his smile and the way he wore his cowboy hat with pride. As you know, we share a birthday, and I always think of him on that day. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Sending prayers, love, and hugs to all of you.

What can I say about Boyd, he was the kindest gentlest man I new, he would sing and do sermons at the church ,I’ve known him for many years he loved the lord, so much, and a better friend you couldn’t find, we will truly miss you little buddy Dr Rev Ivan Byrd, Redemption Chapel

Howdy, Ballard Family — thank you all for being a part of my life. Always appreciated Boyd’s strength… as a youngster, I only knew this strength physically when he would squeeze the bejesus out of me; but, as an adult I came to know his emotional strength, too. So sad for your loss, Shorty, Hazel & Cindy. Boyd was always quite the character, always ready with a smile & a hug!!! Remember going into the Pizza Hut in Laramie, and he would recognize me and come running over!!

Dear Ballard Family, so sorry to read of Boyd’s passing. Cindy, your brother really was a special guy. I, like Rick Saulcy, found out early in life what imposing strength he had! Turns out that he was also one sweet guy that always had his hand out and a smile on his face for you.
