Allen “Al” Emmons

Allen “Al” Emmons, 69, of Laramie, died November 16, 2020. He was born October 9, 1951 in Baldwin, California to Allen W. Emmons and Genevieve Tensely.

He attended the University of Wyoming to study Journalism and eventually changed to study Agroecology and minor in Etymology.

Al worked for the Cowboy Bar for more than 20 years as a bartender and bouncer. He also worked for the Physical Plant at the University of Wyoming until his retirement.

Al was an avid pool player and was on the Dr. Shots pool team. He attended many pool tournaments in Wyoming, the international pool tournament in Las Vegas as well as the Milwaukee National Valley Tournament in 1983. He was a member of the Chess Club in Laramie, which took him to many tournaments throughout Wyoming and Colorado. 

When Al wasn’t busy playing pool or Chess he enjoyed watching his favorite baseball team, LA Dodgers, watching Star Wars and gaming on his computer. 

He is preceded in death by his mother, Genevieve Lacy and his stepfather, Lloyd.

He is survived by all of his friends.

A celebration of Al’s life will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Mingles.

Al was a great friend with many stories and a great smile. He will be missed. Our condolences to all his family and friends.
