Remembering Aaron Lloyd Gray
June 24, 1983 – September 8, 2026
Aaron Lloyd Gray was born on June 24, 1983, in Newcastle, Wyoming, and passed away on September 8, 2026.
Aaron spent his earliest years in Upton, Wyoming, where he and his brother, Barry, lived until they were one year old. The family then moved to Riverton, where they lived until Aaron and Barry were three. From there, the family moved to Laramie, Wyoming, where Aaron and Barry grew up and made many of the memories that would become part of his story.
As Aaron grew older, his adventurous spirit took him beyond Wyoming. He spent some time traveling throughout the United States, experiencing new places and making memories along the way. Eventually, he found his way back to Wyoming and settled in Gillette, where he built a life and a family of his own.
Aaron was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family. He spent approximately 20 years working in the oil field, a career that brought long days, hard work, and plenty of dedication. Toward the beginning of 2025, Aaron began a new chapter in his working life when he made the move into the mining industry. No matter where he worked, Aaron was never afraid of hard work and always did what he could to take care of the people he loved.
But work was only one part of Aaron’s life.
Aaron had a gift for turning ordinary moments into adventures. He loved exploring, and if a road led into the mountains, there was a good chance he was ready to follow it. Sometimes there was a plan, and sometimes there absolutely was not—and those unplanned journeys often became the memories everyone treasured most.
He loved camping, fishing, hiking, and taking random drives through the mountains with his family and friends. Yet the destination was never really the most important part. What mattered was who was beside him.
Some of Aaron’s best memories came from the simplest moments: spontaneous drives, long conversations, laughter, fishing trips that may or may not have produced any fish, evenings around a campfire, and those times when everyone was together with nowhere else they needed to be.
Aaron’s greatest adventure, however, was being a husband and a dad.
He leaves behind his wife, Ashley Gray (Crook); his three beautiful children, Tyler, Serenity, and Faith; and his mother, Daviett Gray. His family was at the center of his heart, and the memories they created together will continue to tell his story for generations to come.
Aaron is also survived by his uncle Steven Gray (Tori Gray); aunts Jodi Titel and Pearl Daniello; nephews Donnavan Gray and Johnathon Gray; and many beloved cousins, family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Milten Gray; his brother, Barry Milten Gray; grandparents Leta Viergutz, Lloyd Viergutz, Earl Milten Gray, and June Leila Jones Gray; and aunts Evelyn Viergutz and Deb Pettit.
Just two days after Aaron’s passing, the family experienced another heartbreaking loss when Patrick McIntyre Gray passed away on September 10, 2026. We hope that somewhere beyond this life, Aaron and Patrick are together again—catching up, sharing laughs, and getting ready for their next adventure.
When we think of Aaron, let us remember more than the sadness of losing him. Think of his smile. Think of his stories. Think of the mountains, the campfires, the fishing poles, the unexpected road trips, and the laughter.
Remember him as he was: a hardworking husband, a proud dad, an adventurer, a loyal friend, and a man who loved making memories with the people who mattered most.
His story does not end with September 8. It continues whenever his children tell one of his stories, whenever his family takes a drive through the mountains, whenever someone casts a fishing line, and whenever friends gather around a campfire and say:
“Remember when Aaron…”
There will undoubtedly be many stories like that.
So instead of saying goodbye, we’ll say see you down the road.
Save us a spot by the campfire, Aaron.
Keep the mountains beautiful, the roads winding, and the fishing holes full.
Until the next adventure,
you will be loved, remembered, and missed more than words can say.
