Steven E. Orester, Jr.

Steve Orester

Steven E Orester Jr, 70, Laramie WY, passed away Sunday February 25th, 2018, comfortably after a long battle with several illnesses.

Steve was born March 28, 1947, in Rock Springs, WY. The eldest son of Steven E Orester Sr and Virginia (Peets) Orester, who have preceded him in death.

Steve enlisted in the Air Force after graduation from Rock Springs High School, class of 1965. He married Mary Jo Cooley in 1969. After his service in the Air Force in 1971, he remained in the Reserves until 1973, during which he was a volunteer with the Mountain Search and Rescue Team in Sweetwater County. Steve took great pride in serving his country and was always honored to say ‘Yes I am a Veteran’. As Steve continued his journey in life, he also worked with the Wyoming Highway Department and Stauffer Chemical. Upon moving to Laramie, he worked at the Monolith Cement Plant for the remainder of his working career.

Steve was known for his joking and teasing personality and he loved the outdoors. He was a hunter and avid fisherman. At one point, he was even a fishing guide, he enjoyed making his own flies, and was named in several publications. There weren’t many rivers in Wyoming he hadn’t fished. If you couldn’t find him, he was probably at a river somewhere. Some of Steve’s happiest times were alone on a river bank, and there was nothing like the way his face lit up when dropping a line or talking about his fishing adventures. Wyoming life was the only life, he used to tell his daughter.

Steve is survived by his only child, his daughter, Angela M Orester, five grandchildren Todd Orester, Christina Hunt, Dakoda Orester, Ashton Allen, Makenzie Allen, four great grandchildren and his former wife Mary Jo Orester, all of Topeka KS. His brother George Orester, his sister-in-law Lynn Orester, and their daughter Anne-Marie Orester-Foster all of Rock Springs, WY.

Cremation has taken place and per request, no public services to be held at this time.
