Richard F. “Dick” McReynolds

Richard F. “Dick” McReynolds, 81, passed away on March 22, 2019 with his family at his side at the hospital in Laramie, Wyoming.

Dick was born on November 25, 1937 in Alice, Texas to P.T. and Jewel (Melton) McReynolds. His father was a land surveyor for an oil company, and the family had moved more than 50 times by the time Dick graduated from high school in Brownfield, Texas. He attended Colorado School of Mines and then joined the Army.

While supporting his first family, Dick started a 30 year career with Conoco, working in several oilfields from offshore Louisiana to inside the Arctic Circle.

After retiring from Conoco as Senior Production Foreman in 1994, Dick moved to San Angelo, Texas, where his mother lived. In San Angelo, he volunteered at the Police Academy. He helped cadets improve their shooting skills.

In 1998, Dick relocated in Laramie, his last and longest place to live. He volunteered for the Wyoming Game and Fish, United Presbyterian Church, UW foreign students and Snowy Range Academy. He also raised a family for the second time.

Dick felt the most fulfilled when he knew his family was taken care of and secure. He had such a wonderful sense of humor and even in his final days could find something witty to say about a situation. He loved hunting in Wyoming and enjoyed doing gourmet Dutch-oven cooking at the annual hunting camp.

He was survived by his wife of 28 years, Kyoko and daughter Maya of Laramie; daughter Judy (David) Nalley of Jackson, WY and four grandchildren (Leah, Tyler, Tessa and Austin); sister JoAnn (Tom) Easterling, a niece, a nephew, and an aunt, all of Texas.

His ashes were sprinkled at his favorite hunting camp site during a private memorial on August 10, 2019.
