Michael David Parrie

Michael David Parrie, born November 16, 1958, lost a long battle to cancer on August 21, 2022.

Mike’s whole life was dedicated to helping the underdog and fixing things. Too bad he can’t fix our broken hearts today.

Michael was born to Albert and Alice, in Rawlins, Wyoming.  Mike thrived in Saratoga, where his parents had the Parrie’s Electronic Store.  He was Student Council President 3 times in High School, and was a State Champion wrestler.

A lifelong entrepreneur, Mike started several companies, including Big A Auto Parts in Saratoga (which he started with his family) and MD Parrie Contracting in Tie Siding.  His carpentry work was in demand, and his fans included client and author Andrew Grant, who included Mike as a character in the novel Too Close To Home.

He married Traute Lynn Nye in 1977.  He and Traute had two children, Lindsay, born in 1982, and Zach, born in 1984.  Although Mike and Traute divorced in 1998, they remained close friends to the end.

He was preceded in death by father Albert and brother Randy.  He is survived by mother Alice and her husband Kenny, daughter Lindsay and her husband Levi, their two daughters Lainey and Milea, son Zach and his fiance Emily, brother Joe and his wife Kathy, many nieces and nephews, the extended Nye family, as well as many close friends (especially Jody Blunsom), all of whom will hold him in their hearts.

The family would like to thank the staff at Ivinson Memorial Hospital for their loving care and friendship of Michael.  Memories may be shared with Alice Parrie Swanson at PO Box 1257, Saratoga, WY 82331.

Mike was a friend and someone to rely on to help out on short notice. He undercharged for his excellent work, and thus was always busier than he could be expected to manage. Fish Creek Ranch Preserve was his home and he was highly regarded and appreciated. Mike was a “ blue collar aristocrat” who was respected by those who sought him out for advice and projects, as well as by his understudies. The World is a better place since Mike was in it, and he is and will be missed by all who knew him. It will take a while to grasp that he is gone, since he was always upbeat and enthusiastic, even to his end. We extend our sympathies and compassion to Mike’s (adult) kids and family. Respectfully and Sincerely , John & Susie Davis Fish Creek Ranch Preserve

Mike was always enjoyable to converse with. Remember first dealing with him in the automotive parts world and then later he also did satellite tv installs and low and behold here he came to my house after much lightning activity and fixed us up. Rest In Peace Mike.
