Kirk Brien Jacobs

Kirk Brien Jacobs

10-28-47 – 3-9-18

Kirk was born to Keith and Mildred Jacobs in Cheyenne, WY.  He loved fishing and exploring all around WY.   He had many talents, one of which was writing and another was outdoor and wildlife photography.  He founded Frontier Barnwood in 1977, and was a Snow Fence Contractor for the U.P.R.R. removing retired snow fence.  Kirk was one of a handful of people who recognized the possibilities of utilizing the weathered lumber from the snow fence for interior and exterior paneling in residential and commercial building.  He sold the reclaimed snow fence all across the country and Canada, thus becoming part of a movement towards recycling reclaimed lumber that is popular across the country today.

He died from a 35 year illness brought on by an iatrogenesis toxic reaction to a wrongly prescribed antibiotic.  He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Ann Jacobs and adult sons Brandon McNamara (Gina) of Casper and Lee Jacobs of Centennial, WY.  There are 5 adult grandchildren as well as great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be scheduled at a later date.

Memorial Contributions may be made to The Kirk Jacobs Memorial Fund c/o Laramie Plains Federal Credit Union.
