June “Carrie” Edens

June Edens, nee Carrie Eileen June Hardyman, age 90, passed away peacefully February 14th, at the Hospice of Laramie, surrounded by family members. June was born August 18th, 1926 in Champaign, Illinois to Thelma and George Hardyman. She met Walter Edens in Champaign where they married in 1947. They settled in Laramie, where Walter joined the English department at the University of Wyoming.

So, began June’s great adventures in the West. She loved arrowhead, fossil and rock hunting, antiquing, investigating the flora and fauna of Wyoming, and exploring Old West trails and back roads with Walter. She was a master gardener, an accomplished painter and artist, and a skilled knitter. June always encouraged her children to be adventurous, authentic, and creative. She was an avid reader and enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles.  June was an excellent cook and made the best pies ever! She and Walter travelled throughout the United States and Europe, particularly England. June was a special and talented lady, much loved, who positively influenced all her children, family, and friends.

June was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Walter. She is survived by her loving brother George Greaves and wife Ilse of Goodyear, Arizona. She is also survived by her children, Carrie Edens of Laramie, Sarah and Patrick Frausto of Laramie, Horatio and Mary (Michaud) Edens of Folsom, California, and Matilda and Ron Morse of Springfield, Missouri.  She is also survived by grandchildren Rachel Smucker and Darren Smith of North Carolina, Nicole Watts of New Orleans, Reese Edens of Fort Collins, Robert Edens and Emily Wever of Portland, Thomas and Antoinette Edens of California, Trevor and Naomi Edens of California, Rebecca Scott and David Conger of California. She also is survived by twelve great grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made in June Edens’ name to the Hospice House of Laramie.

    Sarah and family, I was very sorry to see that your mom had passed away. I know your mom and dad for that matter were very important people in my ex mother-in-laws (Veva Steckel) life for many years. Pray they are all up in heaven having a great conversation getting caught up on all the happenings of the world. . You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
