Harriet Grace Cook

Harriet Grace Cook, 90, of Laramie, died Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Laramie Care Center. Harriet was born Feb. 19, 1926, in Cuba, Illinois, to Grafton and Zelma (née Shoop) Ewan. She attended Iowa State University, graduating in 1948 with a B.S. in horticulture. She married James Cook on June 9, 1949, in Cuba, Illinois. In 1977, they moved to Laramie, and she spent the rest of her life here. She enjoyed traveling and cooking and passed these passions on to her children.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; a sister; and a granddaughter. Harriet is survived by her husband, James Cook, of Laramie; children, James Cook, of Dallas, Texas, Tom Cook (Kim White), of Tacoma, Washington, Miriam Cook, of El Paso, Texas, and David (Helen) Cook, of Baltimore, Maryland; eight grandchildren; and her one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18 at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Pete Phillips officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Eppson Center for Seniors Foundation.

    To the family and friends of Harriet Cook, I would like to express my deepest and heartfelt condolences. I am truly sorry for the lost that your family is feeling. Experiencing the lost of a beloved family member is one of the hardest things that any of us can go thru. And because of that my thoughts and prayers are with your family. Take comfort in knowing that God never intent for us to deal with sickness or death. But have assure in this wonderful promise that our Heavenly father holds out to us. He promise to reunite us back with all those loved ones that we have lost. (John 5;28,29) Until that time, cherish all the wonderful memories that you have of Ms. Harriet. These precious memories will console the family in the day's ahead.
