Elizabeth “Liz” Webb

Elizabeth “Liz” Kathryn Webb

October 31, 1962 – June 17, 2019

Elizabeth “Liz” Kathryn Webb was born on October 31, 1962 to Joan Earl and Ewing Jackson Webb in Westerham Kent, England.  She was born with Jacobsen’s Syndrome, a rare chromosomal disorder.  Despite having challenges, Liz thoroughly enjoyed life, and people thoroughly enjoyed her.  Liz lived in Lander, WY and was supported at the Wyoming State Training School from 1965-1996. While growing up, Liz enjoyed a special relationship with her maternal grandmother. Each Sunday, they would go to church and then out for licorice ice cream.   In 1996, Liz moved to Laramie and joined Ark Regional Services.  Liz was very social and active in the Laramie community.  She enjoyed spending time with her many friends, going out to eat, going to concerts and walks in the park.  Attending church each week was an important part of Liz’s life.  She especially loved the music and singing with the choir.  Liz was always looking forward to her next vacation.  She and her longtime friend Ronnie ventured to Hawaii and Branson, MO, but the fun didn’t stop there.  She also loved going on cruises, to plays, and anywhere she could gamble, which she fondly referred to as “ding-ding-ding”.

Liz was preceded in death by her father, Ewing Jackson Webb; paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Webb; and her maternal grandmother, Kathryn Earl Hayes.  She is survived by her mother, Joan Earl; sister, Sarah Levy (Josh); niece Emma and nephew Zach; aunt Dawn Earl Chapman, and all of her friends she loved so dearly.

Services for Liz will be held Friday, June 21st at Ark’s Center for Professional Development, 1160 N. 3rd Street in Laramie at 4pm.

Memorial contributions can be made to the 11Q Research and Resource Group, which is dedicated to supporting people with Jacobsen’s Syndrome and their families through networking, cooperation with the research community and the resulting sharing of information.  Contributions can be mailed to 5155 Shotwell Street, Woodstock, Georgia, 30188 in c/o Linzee Thorpe Carroll.  Tax ID Number 04-3840156.

Just last week I saw a woman who could have been your twin... enjoying independence and strolling along. I watched her from where I stood for such a long time, reminiscing your unique smile, ways of communicating, your joys and your determinations. She even wore the same style of hats. I caught her attention, and quickly withdrew my gaze. While standing in the middle of a wilderness, surrounded my gentle winds, dappled sunlight and damp smells of earth; I received the news that you had passed. I should not have had cell phone reception but on that spot I did. I will forever dedicate a moment of silence and remember you each time I visit. I pray for strength and peace to your loved ones. ?

I was on my way to Laramie for the service and got stuck behind an accident on Beaver Rim. I’ve been here for 3 hours and now there’s not enough time to make it. I’m so sorry I won’t be there to pay my respects and celebrate the life on one I hold so dear. I’m heartbroken, all over again.

Joan and family, Liz was one of my favorite people. She would brighten my day even while trying my patience at times. To hear her say "Nursey! Nursey!" as she came through the Health Services door always meant Liz was on the way to leave some treasure with me......only to return later to ask for it back. How I loved her.....even tho I can't be at the service, know that my heart is there with you. Jane the Nurse

Dear Joan and family, I was so deeply saddened to learn that Liz had passed away. I loved her like sister. Some of my fondest memories, as her House Supervisor, were being greeting with, “Mouri Susine” when I emerged from the office/bedroom at 6:00am, playing games and watching her light up at concerts (especially the ones in the park, where she could dance, sing and giggle with abandon). Later, as her ISC, she would bring me a drawing almost daily, which I displayed as wall-trim all around my office. I still have most of those drawings. Your Elizabeth made a profound impact on my life, and I have never stopped loving my dear friend. Thank you for sharing her with all of us. She is sorely missed. With deepest sympathies, Kim Wendel

Joan, I have thought of and missed Liz frequently over the years that I have been away from the Ark. I still sometimes wear the necklace you both gave me when I left. Liz was always a special person to me and taught me so much about myself in my first years in social work. I am sorry for your loss, but I know that Liz has earned her wings. Love, Jennifer Edwards Madden

Liz has been a roommate in the same group home as my son, Gregory Hildebrand since 1998. She was like a little mother to him, always concerned about Gregory and where he was going when we used to pick him up at his group home. Sh was a very caring person. Liz will be missed and her group home won’t be the same without her.

I knew Liz not that well but whenever I saw her I would say hi. She’s a great person and will be missed by everyone
