Dorothea D. (Klitzke) Frank

Dorothea D. Klitzke Frank age 83 was called home to be with the Lord on January 18th 2023 after a short courageous battle with cancer.  Dorothea was born February 14,1939 at home on the farm where she grew up in the township of Reedsburg Sauk County Wisconsin.  Daughter of Elmer & Edna (Schulze) Klitzke was baptized and confirmation of faith at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Reedsburg Wisconsin.  She attended a one-room country school for primary school, then attended St. Peter’s Lutheran School.  She graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1956.  She married Philip Frank Nov 7, 1959 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Reedsburg.  They were blessed with five children, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. 

Dorothea worked for many years at Ivinson Memorial Hospital.  She enjoyed gardening, reading, needlework, & jigsaw puzzles.  She loved listening to music & playing piano & organ.  She enjoyed traveling especially to many national parks & beautiful places in our country.  Dorothea appreciated drives in the mountains, hiking and enjoying the beauty of nature.  She always missed beautiful Wisconsin and her family & friends there.  Spending time with her family was her greatest joy-hosting family dinners, picnics, holidays as well as grand-children’s activities.

Dorothea had a deep relationship with God.   Her faith in the Lord brought her through many trials and joys in life.  She was an active and faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church since moving to Laramie in 1965.  She served in many capacities at Zion over the years. 

Dorothea was preceded in death by her husband Philip December 24, 2014 after 55 years of marriage; her parents Elmer & Edna Klitzke, Brother David, nieces, nephew, and many other relatives & friends. 

She is survived by her five children Kevin (Wendi) Frank, Laurie (Tony) Sanchez, Wendy Frank, Jody Frank, Darcie (Kris) Valstad, five Grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, sisters Evelyn Culles, Ellyn Thompson, nieces, nephews & friends.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Zion Lutheran Church Laramie WY or St Jude Children’s Hospital.
