Daniel J. Murphy

Murphy picDaniel J. Murphy, 68, of Laramie died Friday May 13, 2016 at his home in Laramie.  He was born January 26, 1948 in Laramie the son of Frederick E. and Maxine (Tucker) Murphy.  He received his education in Laramie, attending St. Laurence School, later the Albany County Schools, graduating from Laramie High School.  He was then drafted into the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Era.  This became a career for him, serving several tours of duty and stationed at different bases over the years, and married Linda Koenig March 3, 1972 in Cheyenne, WY.  He retired in 1988 at Ft. Carson Military Base earning his PhD while in the military.  Following his retirement he worked as a mechanic at Peterson Air Force Base, returning to Laramie in the early 1990’s where he worked as a mechanic for Jones Automotive and Hugh Lockhart, retiring in 2013.

He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the NRA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Connie Hardesty.

He is survived by his wife Linda Murphy, a son Dale Murphy both of Laramie, WY; a sister Wendy Jones of Lubbock, TX; three grandchildren and a great grandchild.

A celebration of Life will be held Friday May 20 at 1:00 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post with military rites by the Laramie Veterans Honor Guard and the Wyoming National Guard.
