Christopher Scott Kimzey

Christopher Scott Kimzey, 21, passed away unexpectedly on April 10th, 2018 in Laramie, WY. A memorial service will be held at First Christian Church on April 17th, 2018 at 2pm in Laramie, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Chris Kimzey Memorial and sent to 693 CR 159, Pine Bluffs, WY 82082 in his memory.

Christopher was born August 29th, 1996 to Trevor Kimzey and Leana Sanders in Cheyenne, WY. After graduating high school with a scholarship, Chris moved to Laramie to attend the University of Wyoming.

In 2016, Chris decided to enlist with the U.S Marine Corps, attending basic training in San Diego California. He was later honorably discharged due to a medical condition with his heart. Chris then moved back to Laramie and attended classes at UW and worked various jobs in Laramie.

Chris was a very bright young man who brought happiness to those around him. He always had an amazing smile on his face and was eager to help anyone out. Chris enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and he especially loved camping.

Chris is survived by his parents, Trevor Kimzey and Leana Smith, stepmother Kara Kimzey, step brother Tristan Lind; Grandparents Randy and Jodene Kimzey and Dane McFall and Kent Sanders; siblings Andrew Tew, Alayna Smith, Sydney Smith, and William Smith.  He is also survived by his great grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to all of Chris’s family. For right now, there’s no detour around grief, no shortcut through mourning. However, 2 Cor.4:7 says that God can give us, “... power beyond what is normal “, to go from one day to the next. This does not mean that we no longer cry or that we forget. It means we recover. We recover because of our hope. Jesus Christ talked about our hope in John 5:28 which says, “... all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out “. Jesus was referring to the resurrection. That is our amazing hope! The Bible likens our hope to an anchor. Just like an anchor stabilizes a ship, our hope stabilizes us and keeps us from drowning in overwhelming sadness. 2 Cor.1:3 describes our Creator as, “... the God of all comfort “. One way that God comforts us is by moving people who care about us to give us words of encouragement that we need to hear. May the God of comfort be your comfort now, during this time of sorrow.
