Bill, I just say on the SRM newslatter that Charlotte had passed away and I was saddened to hear it. I will always remember her sharp wit, direct talk and friendly manner. I especially remember the time in Venice when I first met her, and last year at the SRM meeting. I am sure there will be many people who miss her presence greatly, none more than you. You have my sympathy and thoughts.

Dear Bill and family, I'm so sorry to hear about Charlotte's passing. I remember her from my time at UW, 1991-92, and seeing Bill and Charlotte at SRM meetings. She was always so friendly and warm. I remember dog sitting for you one time and Charlotte sending me home with all kinds of goodies from your freezer! Charlotte opened her heart to everyone and that won't be forgotten. Clare Hydock.

Dear Bill & family, I just got word of Charlotte's passing, and see her services are tomorrow in Laramie. My thoughts and love and prayers will be with you all. She was a very special lady and helped keep our distant cousin-relationships alive and sorted out for me. Wyoming's a long way from Yorkshire but a good deal of Yorkshire blood runs in Wyoming veins and I'm proud to be part of it. Charlotte was such a hostess, such a promoter of fun events and celebrations, especially within the family. I feel bles't to have known her most of my life and to have enjoyed so many of her fun events and activities -- she flattered me by wanting me to play the organ for so many of them, and I know she opened many doors for me through her "promoting". God be with you all, bless and comfort you at this time of loss, and know my thoughts and prayers are there with you as well. Lovingly, Rhonda Sedgwick Stearns

Bill and all of Charlotte's family, If you had asked me earlier this year, I would have bet good money that both my Mom Lynn Botkin and her good friend Charlotte Laycock would be with us for many more years -- both were doing so well. And now in the span of 3 1/2 months (Lynn Botkin died Sept 16), they are both gone from this earth. I'm sure they're enjoying being together again, and that Charlotte hasn't stopped talking and catching Mother and other friends up on all the news!!! Love and hugs to you two special ladies, and to all of your family members who are missing you!

We are so heart-broken to learn about Charlotte’s passing. Her friendship and love played a huge role in our lives during our time in Laramie. She was a genuinely compassionate, caring person always willing to offer advice, encouragement, support, and a hug. Her positive, optimistic, and enthusiastic personality was always welcoming to friends, family, UW students, staff, and professors. Our fondest memories were times spent with Charlotte and Bill at annual UW Departmental Christmas dinner parties, summer Sunday morning brunches around a campfire at Vedauwoo, and Friday night social cocktail/dinner gatherings at the Elks Club. Charlotte’s passing leaves a huge void in our lives, and we’ll greatly miss that smiling, happy face. She is greatly missed but never forgotten. Bill, Donice, Cody and family- You are in our thoughts and prayers. We loved Charlotte so much. Respectfully, Rich and Pam Olson

Bill and Family, We are so sorry for your loss of Charlotte but know she is now resting in a place of honor in your and his name. Charlotte held her role as a friend and often mother to the student body of Range Management, its faculty, and the College of Agriculture as most important. The Skinner’s are forever grateful for her dedication to this end. However, we are even more grateful for the Laycock’s love and sincere effort in supporting our move to Georgia and the 10 years since. Your regular calls, letters, and encouragement have always been on time when we needed it most and focused to tell us of how important we were to you, the University, and the State of Wyoming. We will miss Charlotte’s ever strong voice in encouraging us to move back to our roots, but do know she is now at peace and looking after all. Bill our hugs and love are with you. Bless you during this tough time.

Dear Bill, Donise and Cody, I am so sorry for your loss. I always loved to visit with Charlotte and remember the fun times together at Grandma's house when life was so much simpler. How she loved Laramie and Wyoming and was so proud of her heritage of being a decandent of early pioneer homesteaders in the area. We had so much fun together as kids. She and Bill were always to welcoming to us whenever we visited. I'll always remember how she could cook wild game and make it taste so good.! I'll miss you cuz. Love, Keith and Barbara

I've known the Laycock's since 1959 when they were stationed at the Sheep Experiment Station in Dubois, ID. I was only 5 years old but felt free to stop by and visit with Charlotte anytime. The friendship with their family continued after they left Dubois. They would return for many summers for Bill to do his range work and I loved taking Donice for rides on my horse. I was also privileged to visit their home for a week each summer when they lived in Logan and I was a teenager. What fun we had -- packing picnics and going to Lagoon and cooking up a storm. Many of my favorite recipes are from her kitchen. In later years my parents were their companions at the NFR each year and sometimes I was lucky enough to join them. Charlotte -- I will miss your phone calls and visits. I love you very much - Kay Thompson Slavin

It's hard to believe and accept that Charlotte is no longer with us. Charlotte was always so proud of her family and loved them very much. She was generous and thoughtful and never forgot birthdays and special occasions. There was always a special card in the mail or phone call to let us know she was thinking of us. Bill, whenever we spent our summer vacations with you and Charlotte we always felt welcome and enjoyed the time, there was always something to do. We will miss her...she was well loved. Love Frances and family

I am so sadden to hear of Charlotte's passing. No doubt that the Lord and Jesus are enjoying her stories now as much as we have while she was here. Charlotte was one of my favorite people. What a blessing it was getting to know her. Her love of kids and rodeo were always most of our conversations. Bill, you and Charlotte played such a huge part supporting and working the WRA rodeos in Wyoming. I am so proud to call you friends. I will miss her.

Billie and I were saddened to hear of Charlotte's passing. We became friends with Bill and Charlotte through the Society for Range Management more than 35 years ago. We had common roots through Bill's earlier career in Forest Service research, which I joined in 1980. Some of our favorite memories are impromptu get-togethers at SRM meetings, along with being invited to Charlotte's annual Christmas party when Bill was the Range Department Head at University of Wyoming. Charlotte could also throw a helluva birthday party! We trust there will be a special place in heaven for someone as wonderful as Charlotte. John and Billie Mitchell.

To Bill and the rest of Charlotte's family, I am so sorry to hear of Charlotte's death. She was always one of the very best friends of my wife Jane and me. We met Charlotte and Bill in the fall of 1955, and the four of us remained friends until Jane passed away two years ago. A more loving optimistic person was never found. All the adventures, parties, and picnics we shared are among my fondest memories. Words fail me but I'll be thinking of you, Bill, in the days and weeks ahead. Bob Tolbert
