Carolyn Taylor Nelson

M. Carolyn Taylor Nelson, 85, passed away on May 27, 2022, in Laramie, Wyoming. She was born on September 1, 1936 in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Frances Benedict Taylor and Leslie Taylor of Mountain View Wyoming and she grew up in Mountain View. She attended the University of Wyoming, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. She met Robert Nelson while attending the University of Wyoming and they married December 27, 1958 in Mountain View.

Shortly after graduating from university, Carolyn and Robert moved to San Francisco, where she developed her deep love of cooking and eating fine food. In 1965, she and her family moved to Pocatello, Idaho, where they lived until 1969, when the family moved to Laramie.

Carolyn was active in many community organizations, including the Laramie Garden Club and served in many leadership roles in the United Presbyterian Church. She loved her family, her pets, gardening, sewing, and cooking, and loved to create amazing meals for family and friends. She also loved the state of Wyoming, and for many years never missed a home football game where she cheered her team on with her whole heart.

Carolyn served as curator at the Laramie Plains Museum, and after her retirement, one of her many volunteer roles was to work with other Garden Club members to maintain and develop the beautiful grounds of the Ivinson Mansion in Laramie.

Carolyn made many friends in her travels through life. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert, her sisters, Elaine Nordberg and Suzanne Johnson, their three children, Joan Fessenden, Peggy Nelson, and Chris Nelson, three grandchildren, Kim Fessenden, Nicole Latifi, and Nathan Brown, and her great-grandson, Romin Latifi.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home with Reverend Michelle Bacon, officiating.

Joan and family - I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember your mother as involved in many things, and making a positive difference in all she did. I hope fond memories, and God's peace, are a comfort to you now and in the days to come.

We met Carolyn through her husband Bob who was one of the best Professors I ever had as I pursued my Pharmacy education at UW (class of 75). Carolyn accompanied Bob to most if not all of the events surrounding the Pharmacy School and was always a source of joy and friendship, and the occasional hug. Our condolences to you Bob, and to the family. She will be missed. Steve and Nancy Johnson, Casper
